Private Sessions

45 minutes – $90.00

60 minutes – $108.00

Yoga techniques have been shown to help individuals tolerate physical and sensory experiences associated with fear and helplessness, as well as increase emotional awareness and affect tolerance. In fact, recent empirical evidence suggests that yoga techniques, as a therapeutic adjunct, can significantly reduce trauma and PTSD-like symptoms, with effect sizes comparable to well-known psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacological approaches.

New Practitioner! Please welcome

Maureen Cohee, AKA Madhuri, RYT, MSW, LCSW, LYT

Yoga Instructor and Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Maureen bridges Eastern philosophy with Western psychology, utilizing a body-based approach to foster optimum health and wellness.

Maureen adheres to the yogic principle, ahimsa: to cause no injury/pain in thought, word or deed. Her approach is gentle and empowering, grounded in choice and present-moment awareness.

Maureen meets her students where they are to gently guide them to unlock the knowledge and wisdom of the body, and to restore trust in the body as an agent for purposeful action on and off the mat.

Maureen completed her masters at the University of Maryland School of Social Work. She is an experienced clinical social worker, licensed to practice in Virginia. Her professional studies in yoga include Traditional Hatha yoga, Raja yoga, Bhakti yoga, Yoga for Depression, and Trauma-Sensitive Yoga.

Today, Maureen teaches yoga in the college setting, and works to bring Yoga techniques front and center in the mental health milieu as a therapeutic adjunct to reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, and complex trauma. Maureen offers group classes, private sessions, and professional workshops.
