Meet our Ayurvedic Practitioner
Ayurvedic Health Counselor Intern, Ayurvedic Yoga Teacher
Kiah is a practicing Ayurvedic Health Counselor intern of the California College of Ayurveda (CCA). Through her academic studies, she has earned 600-hours towards an Ayurvedic Health Counseling certification of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA). Now, practicing in Virginia, Kiah is working towards completion of her 1200-hour certification. As an intern, Kiah sees clients under the supervision of a Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist.
Kiah was introduced to Ayurveda while developing an avid practice of Yoga. First-hand experience of the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of the two healing modalities inspired her to formally study both sciences. Kiah earned a 200-hour Ayurvedic Yoga Teacher certification with Yoga Veda Institute of Ajijic, Mexico. Upon returning to the States, she enrolled with CCA to become a NAMA certified practitioner.
What is Ayurveda and How Can it Benefit Me?
Ayurveda is a complete healthcare system focused on restoring and maintaining a balance of the mind, body, and spirit. The goal of Ayurveda is to create an optimal environment for the body to heal itself. The tools of Ayurveda are powerful yet easeful in both preventing and curing disease.
Ayurveda views health and disease as the end result of how we interact with our environment: what w e bring in through the senses and how we do so. A treatment plan utilizes therapies that address all five senses. This includes but is not limited to self-care routines, diet, exercise, aroma, color (visual), sound, yoga, and meditation. A treatment plan looks different for each individual as every person is completely unique.
Working with Kiah
An initial consultation with Kiah includes an intake evaluation and assessment. During this two-hour session, Kiah will be determining your current state of imbalance relative to your unique constitution. Through observation, examination, and inquiry, Kiah will begin to paint a full Ayurvedic picture of YOU.
The initial consult is followed by a one-hour report of findings visit. During this visit, Kiah will share the summary of your constitution and current state of imbalance as well as initial recommendations to begin YOUR healing journey. She will also provide a deeper understanding of the principles of Ayurveda that complement her findings and recommendations.
As it takes time to develop any imbalance, the journey to harmony takes time, too. Through follow-up visits, Kiah will work with you to implement your treatment plan at a pace appropriate for your healing. Her goal is to provide you with the tools of Ayurveda, which will empower you to be able to make choices in your life that will create and sustain optimal health and peace of mind.
